REMUS AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY REOPENS WITH MULTIPLE ACTIVITIES

Remus –Remus Area Historical Society (RAHS) is pleased to announce a number of upcoming events.  The Museum’s summer 2016 season begins on May 4, hours 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekly at 324 Sheridan in Remus.  The RAHS Board meeting is scheduled for May 18 at 4:30 p.m.  On May 19, at 6 p.m. Mary Ann Stickler will present her proven Genealogy research and organizing methods learned over the 35 years after catching the family history bug.  She will also describe the process for seeking “Pioneer Family” status for Mecosta County, “First Families of Isabella County” and/or “Centennial Family of Gratiot County” certificates.

Building on last year’s roundtables discussing early settlers, businesses and lumber camps, a special Lumbering Event will be held on May 21 at the Millbrook Township Hall (5.5 miles south of Remus on M66) with a noon Meet and Greet, Lumbering displays, and neighbors and guest speakers presenting information and photos from the turn of the century at 1 p.m.  For more information, contact Linda Howard 989-560-8305 or email lhoward@cmsinter.net or Gary Cox by phone: 989-561-2848 or email: Garylizcox@aol.com.  Other ongoing activities include fundraising for the School Section Lake Veterans Park Stone Pavilion, the Oral History, and, the Mecosta County Quilt Block Trail projects.  Subscribe to www.remus.org to receive email alerts or email museum@winntel.net.
